The City of Calgary has sent more than 600,000 property assessment notices for 2026. The Customer Review Period is now open until March 23, 2026.
What your assessment means
Your 2026 property assessment reflects an estimate of your property’s market value as of July 1, 2025. If there were changes to your property after that date, the assessment reflects its characteristics as of December 31, 2025.
Assessments are used to determine each property owner’s share of property tax. They are not tax bills. No payment is required at this stage, and no action is needed if the assessed value looks accurate and you have no questions.
How to view your notice
Property owners signed up for e-notice can view their 2026 assessment (and past notices) through MyTax. Those not enrolled in e-notice should receive their assessment by mail over the next week. If you are having difficulty accessing your assessment, please reach out to 3-1-1.
Have questions or concerns?
If you have questions about your assessment or think it may not reflect your property’s market value, support is available through calgary.ca/assessment or by calling 311. The last day to contact the City during the Customer Review Period is March 23, 2026.
How is property tax determined?
Each year, both The City of Calgary and the Province set their budgets and determine how much funding is needed from property taxes. For 2026, it’s estimated that 60% of residential property taxes will stay in Calgary, with 40% collected on behalf of the province.
Property assessments are revenue neutral. Changes in assessments do not increase the total amount of tax collected. They only affect how that total is shared among property owners. An early estimate of your 2026 tax bill is available using the property tax calculator at calgary.ca/taxcalculator.
