Become a Snow Angel this Winter

Updated: 4 days ago

Snow has returned to Calgary, and with it comes the City's annual Snow Angels campaign - an opportunity for Calgarians to support one another by helping keep sidewalks clear and safe throughout the winter.

Becoming a Snow Angel is simple. Adopt a sidewalk and shovel it whenever it snows. Residents are encouraged to look out for neighbours who may need help, whether due to age, limited mobility, or temporary life challenges, and lend a hand when they can. These small acts of care help ensure sidewalks remain accessible and make getting around safer for everyone.

Each year, The City of Calgary recognizes Snow Angels with a printed certificate as a thank-you for their generosity. Certificates can be downloaded at calgary.ca/SnowAngels or requested through 311. Snow Angels, and those they help, are also encouraged to share their stories on social media using #yycSnowAngels.

Since launching in 2004, thousands of Calgarians have participated in the Snow Angels program, building a strong tradition of neighbourly support and kindness that continues to grow each winter. This season, consider lending a hand and helping make Calgary’s sidewalks safer for everyone.
