Hey, Ward 3!
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE 2027-30 CITY BUDGET

Important decisions start with meaningful conversations.

Join Councillor Yule with special guests Mayor Farkas and CAO Duckworth on Thursday, November 19 for a conversation about the 2027-2030 Budget. Bring your questions, hear what is being proposed, and share what matters most to your community.

The City Budget funds our everyday services like police, fire, transit, and roads, alongside major capital and infrastructure projects across Calgary.

Please come out and share your priorities.

Balancing Growth and Services

We know Calgary has urgent infrastructure needs, and years of underinvestment have left significant gaps and important work to catch up on. Our city also continues to grow - since 2015, Calgary's operating spending has grown roughly 47%, while population growth plus inflation has grown roughly 68%. Plainly, this means the City is serving more people at higher costs with a budget that hasn't kept pace. That gap shows up in per capita spending too: Calgary spends less per person than Toronto, Ottawa, or Vancouver.

How do we keep pace with that growth, maintain the service levels Calgarians expect, and address the expanding infrastructure needs of our communities? These are the questions Council must weigh and balance, and none of the options are without tradeoffs. Councillor Yule remains focused on outcomes: making sure Calgary can deliver the critical services and infrastructure our city depends on, and that taxpayers see value for every dollar proposed.

Whether you join us in person or complete the online survey, here are a few questions to consider:

  • Which services does your household rely on most, and where would a decline be felt first?

  • Where have you noticed gaps in service or infrastructure in your community?

  • How should the City balance maintaining what we have with keeping costs manageable for families?

  • What does your neighbourhood need to keep pace with Calgary’s growth?

Complete the Ward 3 Budget Survey

Whether you are unable to attend the Town Hall in person, or you would like to share your written thoughts formally, we want to hear from you.

All Ward 3 residents are invited to take our online survey, open until Thursday, November 19.  This is the best way to share comments, questions, and helps us better understand residents priorities for the upcoming city budget. 2027-2030 City Budget Strategic Priorities

Council has approved six priority areas to guide City decisions and investments over the next four years. They reflect what we’ve heard from Calgarians and work together as an interconnected system, since progress in one area often depends on another. The six focus areas include:

Reliable and sustainable infrastructure: City assets, facilities, and parks are well-maintained, with investment balanced between growth and neighbourhood needs.

Safe City: Calgarians are and feel safe in their neighbourhoods, downtown, and on transit, with fast, well-coordinated emergency response.

Functional transportation network: Reliable options for all modes of travel, improved roads and sidewalks, and ambitious investment in transit and economic corridors.

Community livability and wellbeing: Local access to services, facilities, and well-maintained green spaces that support quality of life and good value for taxes.

Balanced growth and evolving neighbourhoods: Development responds to neighbourhood needs and supports both future growth and current needs.

Trusted and collaborative government: Clear, simple communication and engagement, greater transparency and accountability, and collaboration with partners and other governments to deliver services more efficiently.
