A Day of Conversations Across Ward 3

2 min read

A busy day out and about, connecting with neighbours across Ward 3. Here are a few highlights...

Wednesday started with breakfast and networking alongside North Calgary small business owners at Breakfast Club. Thanks to Melissa Ramkissoon of Marketing Guardians for bringing local entrepreneurs together and creating opportunities for these regular morning meetups. (Their next event is happening November 10th if you're keen to check it out!)

Next, we met with Barb from the Shoreline Association, which represents 10 condominium properties and more than 1,600 households. The association partners with the City to help maintain the stormwater pond fountains and surrounding park areas in Country Hills Village, an inspiring example of the community partnerships that contribute to our shared spaces.

At Vivo, CEO Chris Jennings gave us a tour and an update on upcoming ice rink upgrades, interim infrastructure, and roof repairs following a significant hailstorm. It’s encouraging to see this important work moving forward at a facility that serves so many North Calgary families.

We also connected with District 7 Community Resource Officers Const. Carefoot and Const. Ferguson. CROs are frontline police officers who build relationships with local residents, businesses, and organizations, serving as a direct line of communication between the community and Calgary Police Service. As Ward 3 continues to grow, additional CRO support in the area is a welcome and important step in strengthening these community connections.

Lastly, we met up with Ward 3 Public School Board Trustee Laura Hack and Calgary Catholic School Board Trustee Terry Thuo to discuss the pressing need for additional school sites, as well as potential safety improvements to schools in the area. Continued advocacy and collaboration between the City, school boards, and provincial government will be essential to securing the schools and infrastructure our growing communities need.

Strong communities don’t happen by accident. They grow through the people who invest their time, care, and energy into making our neighbourhoods better. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us, shared their perspectives, and continues to advocate for Ward 3.
