Calgary Transit Fall 2026 Service Update

Four times a year, Calgary Transit reviews service levels, schedules and routes across the city. Following the completion of the North Central Transit Service Review, new routes and service changes take effect in North Central Calgary as of August 31, 2026

Changes to Express Service

A number of legacy express routes have long provided one-way trips into a limited number of north-central communities. As part of this update, that funding is being redirected toward two-way, all-day service across the broader network. This will change how service is delivered to communities that previously had dedicated express routes, extending some access to more destinations throughout the day, while removing the one-way peak-hour service some customers were used to.

Five existing express routes in North Central Calgary will continue to operate, but service on these will be reduced to one trip per direction per day. Ridership on these routes will continue to be monitored, and further adjustments may be made in future seasonal updates.

What This Means for Transit Customers

We know these changes affect how transit service is delivered in North Central Calgary, particularly for customers who have relied on the legacy express routes. Some customers will see expanded two-way service options; others will see reduced frequency on routes they previously used. We encourage riders to review the route maps, allow some time to adjust to the new configurations, and to share feedback through 311 and via future seasonal reviews.
