Join one of Calgary's 25 Boards, Commissions, and Committees - Applications Open July 31

Want a say in how Calgary runs? The City is looking for 123 public members to serve on 25 different City of Calgary Boards, Commissions, and Committees (BCCs).

Starting Friday, July 31 at 8:00 am, The City of Calgary's annual recruitment campaign for Public Members on BCCs is open. Applications close Tuesday, September 1 at 4:00 pm.

What are BCCs?

BCCs are volunteer groups that give City Council valuable perspectives and expertise on important civic issues, helping shape decisions that affect our neighbourhoods and how The City delivers services. This year, The City is looking to fill 123 Public Member positions across 25 BCCs.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be at least 18 years old, and either:

• Live in Calgary; or

• Be an Indigenous person living in the Treaty 7 region surrounding Calgary - Blackfoot Confederacy, Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations, Tsuut'ina First Nation, or Métis citizens in eligible Métis districts.

The City is especially interested in people who want to give back to their community, meet a BCC's specific qualifications, can help raise awareness of issues affecting under-represented groups, and have time to commit to regular meetings. Everyone who's eligible is encouraged to apply - including those who've never considered it before.

What's involved?

Public Members may receive stipends for attending meetings, and reasonable expenses may be reimbursed, in line with Council's remuneration policy.

How appointments happen:

1. Applications are screened by BCC Chairs, who recommend candidates.

2. The Nominations Committee reviews applications and recommendations on October 1.

3. Council makes final appointments at the October 20 Organizational Meeting.
