2026 Neighbour Day: Saturday, June 20

Thinking about hosting a Neighbour Day event in your community? Calgary's Annual Neighbour Day celebration is back, taking place on Saturday, June 20, 2026. This is a great opportunity to host a local event (big or small!) that helps neighbours connect and build community.

Residents are encouraged to get creative and find ways to celebrate with their neighbours - plan a block party, BBQ, community clean up, or other neighbourhood gathering. Block party and greenspace permits are free for Neighbour Day events and applications are open until May 31, 2026.

Community Associations, Business Improvement Areas, and other non‑profit organizations are also eligible to apply for the #YYCNeighbourDay microgrant, which offers up to $2,000 for small‑scale, free‑to‑attend events that foster community connection. Apply early, applications are open until May 6, 2026 or until available funds are fully allocated.

Once your event is planned be sure to add it to the Neighbour Day calendar so others in your community can discover and join in. You can even request a visit from Mayor Farkas, your Councillor (that’s me!), or a fire truck to make the day extra special.
