Active & Safe Routes to School - Speed Cushion and Speed Humps
The City of Calgary’s Mobility Safety team is preparing to engage residents in Ward 3 regarding proposed speed cushion and speed hump installations under the Active and Safe Routes to School (ASRS) program.
For the 2026 program, 15 project sites were selected city‑wide based on established criteria - three locations were selected in Ward 3, capturing six school sites.
As part of this work, speed cushions and speed humps are being piloted within playground zones in front of schools to improve safety and reduce speeding.
Construction is targeted for May/June 2026.

Typical projects include intersection upgrades, curb extensions, traffic calming measures, sidewalk and pathway connections, drainage enhancements, and transit facility improvements.
Projects range in duration from a few days to a few months and are aimed at improving the safety, accessibility, and overall quality of Calgary's existing infrastructure.
