Building on a Strong Foundation with The Blackfoot Confederacy

Earlier this week, Blackfoot Confederacy Chiefs and representatives of the Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council met with Mayor Farkas, Councillor Yule, and members of City of Calgary Administration.

The gathering opened with a prayer by Elder Leonard Weasel Traveller, with conversations centred on shared priorities, ongoing areas of collaboration, and the continued strengthening of the government-to-government relationship between the Blackfoot Confederacy and The City of Calgary.

As Calgary continues to grows and evolves, so too does the importance of this relationship. Both parties remain focused on creating opportunities that celebrate Blackfoot presence and history in this region and advance shared goals for future generations.

A sincere thank you to Former Chief and Elder Charles Weasel Head, Siksika Chief Samuel Crowfoot, Kainaiwa Chief Travis Plaited Hair, Apatosi Piikani Chief Troy Knowlton, and to Blackfoot Confederacy Tribal Council leadership - Kimmy Shade, Carol Mason, Kirby Smith, and Theoren Royal. The time and wisdom shared is deeply appreciated, and we look forward to more gatherings like this as we continue to build something meaningful together.
