Council Priorities for 2027-2030: Reliable Services, Safe Communities & Responsible Growth

City Council has approved six priority focus areas that will guide decisions and investments over the next four years. These priorities reflect what we have been hearing from residents across Calgary; the need for reliable infrastructure, safe communities, responsible growth, and clear accountability for how decisions are made.

As our city continues to grow to two million, we are facing increasing pressure on roads, water systems, transit, public safety and community services. At the same time, residents expect us to be careful with tax dollars and focused on the services people rely on every day. These priorities help ensure that City decisions stay focused on what matters most.

The six focus areas approved by Council are:

  • Reliable and sustainable infrastructure

  • Safe city

  • Functional transportation network

  • Community livability and wellbeing

  • Balanced growth and evolving neighbourhoods

  • Trusted and collaborative government.

These priorities will guide upcoming business plans and budgets, and will help Administration stay aligned with Council direction. They will also help us make clear choices about where to invest, where to improve and how to manage growth responsibly.

You should start to see these priorities reflected in future budget discussions, infrastructure projects, service improvements and community investments. Progress will be reported publicly so Calgarians can see how work is moving forward.
