Fire Ops 101 with Calgary Firefighters

A huge thank you to Calgary Firefighters Association for hosting City Council and staff at Fire Ops 101 training yesterday.

This experience offered a firsthand look at the demanding, skilled, and often intense work firefighters take on every day to keep Calgarians safe. We stepped into real training scenarios, including a live fire burn in the training tower, a simulated medical emergency response, and a motor vehicle extrication exercise.

This is just some of the hands-on training CFD recruits complete throughout their onboarding, giving participants a deeper understanding and appreciation for the teamwork, quick decision making, physically and mentally challenging demands, and dedication required on the job.

Thank you again to all the amazing firefighters and instructors who took the time to share their wisdom with us. It was an experience of a lifetime and not something any of us will soon forget.
