New Traffic Signal Coming to 144 Avenue NW & 14 Street NW

Update: The Mobility team reported that the strong winds yesterday created safety concerns for activating the new traffic signal at 144 Avenue NW & 14 Street NW. As a result, we anticipate the signal to be flashing on Monday, April 27, with complete activation on Tuesday, April 28. Apologies for the delay.

Mobility is pleased to announce that a new traffic signal is being installed at the intersection of 144 Avenue NW & 14 Street NW.

Thursday, April 23, 2026 - Flashing Mode Begins

The signal will be placed into flashing operation. If you're unsure what to do when approaching a flashing traffic signal, Alberta's Driver's Guide provides clear guidance for both motorists and cyclists.

Friday, April 24, 2026 - Full Activation

Assuming there are no issues with Thursdays activation, the traffic signal will be fully operational on Friday, April 24th. Please follow all signal indications as you would at any standard intersection.

Please Note: Temporary Lane Reductions When the signal is first activated, the intersection will operate with reduced lanes and an adjusted alignment. This is temporary while developers in the area complete the remaining roadworks. The intersection is anticipated to be fully open around July 2026.

Please allow extra time when travelling through this area and follow all signage and traffic control measures in place.
