New Safety Measure Coming to 144 Avenue & Carrington Boulevard

The City’s Mobility team has informed our office that a new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) - a crosswalk system designed to alert drivers when pedestrians are crossing - will be activated on November 12, 2025, at the east pedestrian crossing of 144 Avenue and Carrington Boulevard/Lucas Boulevard NW.

This addition is an important step toward enhancing safety for pedestrians, active mobility users, and drivers. As our communities grow and change, it will be essential to continue monitoring traffic patterns changes and evaluating safety measures to ensure travel remains safe and accessible for everyone.

For more information on pedestrian safety and crosswalks, including how to request new crosswalk infrastructure or repairs to existing road markings, please visit the City’s crosswalk information page.
