Help Shape the Future of North Central Calgary: Phase 2 Engagement is Open

How should our North Central communities grow over the next 30 years? The City of Calgary wants to hear from you.

Phase 2 EXPLORE of the North Central Area Structure Plan (ASP) runs from now until November 16. 2026. This is your chance to review the draft direction for the area and tell us your thoughts on the vision, core principles, and land use concepts.

What is the North Central ASP?

The North Central ASP is a long-term plan for about 1,046 hectares (2,585 acres) of land in north Calgary. An Area Structure Plan sets out where things like homes, businesses, parks, schools, and key routes could go as new communities take shape.

The City is leading this work with developers, landowners, and other interested parties. The goal is a framework for vibrant, thriving, and complete communities.

What work has been done so far?

In Phase 1: ENVISION, residents shared what matters to them. That public input helped shape the draft vision, core principles, and land use concept created to guide Phase 2.

Five common themes emerged consistently:

  • Getting around: a better street network, more transit, and stronger connections.

  • Complete communities: more commercial options, parks, community amenities, and essential services close to home.

  • Parks and nature: protecting the natural environment, watercourses, and green space.

  • Growth and housing: concerns about overcrowding, density, infrastructure capacity, and a lack of community character.

  • Local economy: more jobs, retail, entertainment, and commercial development.

You can read the full breakdown of what we heard on the Phase 2 Project Page.
